Power Pong TTA was founded by Attila Malek former U.S. Men's National Champion
and USATT Certified National Coach in January 2000.

Attila was introduced to table tennis at age 5 and from that moment on he loved the game. 10 years later he joined a table tennis club where he learned the professional techniques and after 5 years of hard work and continuous table tennis lessons, he earned a spot in his team in the first division of the Hungarian National League.

His improvement continued and among many successes he had victory over Istvan Jonyer, who was the current World Champion at that time. In 1978 Attila and his wife Sylvia immigrated to the USA, and in 1979 he won the U.S. Men’s Singles National Title.

In addition to the love of the game he also love to teach table tennis, and the kids he was working with started to improve in a rapid space. The lunch time activity at school was not enough to be competitive on the national level and they were searching for a facility for afterschool training. In January 2000 the Power Pong Table Tennis Academy opened its doors as the first full time table tennis training center in Southern California.

Power Pong's vision is to provide an after school training program “Where Players Become Champions” Teaching values that success is based on the effort you give to become the best that you’re capable of becoming.  We also offer California table tennis after school programs.

Power Pong's success started with his own sons Chris and Scott and continued with the rest of the team. Scott won his National Title in the U/1500 division. Being down many times even as much as 14-20 he played like he never seen before and won the match. In the final he was clearly the underdog. His opponent looked like a 2000 level player who has no place in the U/1500 division. But, Scott again played like he never seen before and won the National Title.

The winning continues throughout the years with the rest of the team. Peter Randall winning the U/1300, Todd Crane winning the U/1100, Josh Kuhn winning the U/1900, Michael Amren winning the U/21 Junior Olympics, Michael Amren and Josh Kuhn winning the Doubles U/21 Junior Olympics, Brenton Nestor Winning the U/1000 and U/1200 National Title, and Gregory Nguyen winning the second place at the U.S. Open Juniors U/13.

The program was growing and Power Pong needed qualified help. After many years of difficulties now they have a very knowledgeable and well liked coaching team that cares about their students. Coach Abel (U/1900 National Champion) joined the team in 2007 and coach Thilina (8 times Shri Lanka’s National Champion) joined in January 2008. Coach Tan Nguyen also joined in 2008.

In addition to professional training they also offer Easter(Spring), Summer and Winter sports camps, individual and family memberships, and they help people to save money on high quality table tennis equipments.
